The Regular Meeting of the Apple Creek Council called to order on March 2, 2015 by Betty Keener with the following council members answering to roll call:
Rick Conrad-present, Mike Harwood-present, Rodney Mackey-present, Robert McCarthy-present, Charlie Lewis-present, and Steve Stoffer-present.
Rick Conrad made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 17, 2015 meeting, and as always they are available for the public to review. Seconded by Mike Harwood. Roll Call: Rick Conrad-yes, Mike Harwood-yes, Rodney Mackey-yes, Robert McCarthy-yes, Charlie Lewis-yes, and Steve Stoffer-yes.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Waynedale High School varsity wrestling team won the county. Councilman Mike Harwood’s son Liam and his hockey team won the Three Rivers Cup Tournament in Pittsburgh.
VISITORS: Jon Ritchie-Superintendent of Schools of Southeast Local Schools and Mark Dickerhoof were present to give a presentation about the school bond on the May 5th ballot. Also present was Leonard Kaplan.
ENGINEERS: Tentative meeting for preconstruction of the waste water treatment plant will be Friday, March 6th at 11 a.m. at Village Hall. At noon, the participants will go to the treatment plant for a ground breaking ceremony.
POLICE: Jason is checking with the Wooster Police Department about the Lexipro program. His report was handed out. Jason was not present as he was on a fire call. Matt Estacion was present.
PARK: Betty Keener reported that the back door to Mayer Carson Hall was left open and there were damages to the restrooms and pipes inside a wall due to freezing. Lines and two toilets had to be replaced. Dale Orr reported the line that broke was in the wall, and it was something he could not repair. Water Watts was brought in to repair that line, which is now on the outside of the wall. Dale Orr and Adam Morris replaced the toiles. The Mayor initiated additional property checks by village employees to secure the building is closed, locked, no running water and the furnace thermostat is properly set. The Street Department is checking the building every morning and the Police Department is checking it in the evening. These checks will take place seven days per week. This may be a temporary solution. Council will review suggestions at a future meeting and make the decision regarding a permanent solution.
STREETS AND MAINTENANCE: Committee meeting on Monday, March 16th at 5:15 to tour the streets that need repaired. Steve Stoffer stated the roads have looked good this winter with all the snow.
WATER & SEWER:
Resolution 2015-6 A Resolution to Enter Into A Contract With Engineering Associates, Inc. As Regards Upgrading the Water Treatment Plant, authorizing the Mayor of the Village of Apple Creek to Execute Said Contract on Behalf of the Village, and Declaring an Emergency.

CORRESPONDENCE: Betty Keener read a letter from Christy Bowers commending the street department for their hard work this winter. Ms. Bowers also stated the hard work by the village is not going unnoticed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: CIC meeting will be Monday, March 16th at 5:30 pm. Mike Harwood reported that Jakes did not have a figure yet for the fundraiser. The Mayor stated that was expected, and that is why the CIC opted to schedule the meeting for March 16th to allow for tallying for the fundraiser.
